Technical Overview: The Reputation System
Why Blockchain?
Immutability: Being able to store and adjust data in a permanent and unchangeable way was essential to building a reputation system based on merit.
Alignment: Creating a market for protocols and users to each trade the experience they want aligns incentive with behavior and solves the airdrop problem.
Proof of Reputation: As onchain identity becomes more important to establishing good and bad actors in an ecosystem, having proof of work, activities, and knowledge will allow Users to retain something of value after they purchase the NFT-in this case, a tokenized expression of reputation driven by direct requests from Partner Protocol.s
Proof of Humanity: As humans are involved with the verification and validation of tasks, besides several checks and strategies in place to ensure no automated participants are able to level Dragons, the proof of development via the trivalue token distribution serves as a proof of humanity.
Why Tokens?
The tokens provide proof of reputation, while having no financial incentive or market to be traded. The tokens are distributed to the wallet holding the Enrolled NFT, which is soulbound.
Learning Tokens: Learning Tokens are transferred for completing educational tasks at the Academy, or by completing select tasks from Partner Protocols
Reputation Tokens: Reputation Tokens are transferred for completing social, in person, or otherwise offchain tasks. They also can be granted by other users, partner protocols, or the Academy itself for various tasks and Achievements.
Experience Tokens: These tokens are used to track paid labor and variable quality of work scores. Protocols and Human Validators will have the ability to distribute these tokens in proportion to quality review as labor based tasks are done. Though the Experience Tokens received can vary with quality of work, the USDC compensation is fixed.
Why an NFT?
Familiarity: Retail users are most familiar with the concept of NFTs. This is an application of crypto they know.
Onboarding: The smoothest way to onboard web2 users is by giving them a web2 format to onboard with. By layering the reputation and access system behind a familiar and nostalgic UI, we take the fear out of dealing with crypto.
